Research Interests
My research interests include:
  • Robust fuzzy clustering
  • Visualization techniques.
  • Computer Science Education
  • Women & Computer Science
  • Web Programming

My graduate work dealt with validity-guided robust fuzzy clustering methods for characterizing clusters in noisy data. Some of the applications to which I applied these methods include the characterization of ellipses in microscopic images and locating clusters in grain orientation information.

In addition to the development of clustering techniques, I have explored the use of web-based applications to provide real time simulation over the Internet. I have developed a simulation tool, called FCLUST, for experimenting with concepts in fuzzy clustering that has proved useful in visualizing the results and demonstrating the computation method of the algorithms. I am continuing to explore the area of graphical visualization and animation to display large amounts of data and convey the dynamic behavior of computer algorithms.
