Siena’s Computer Science Department invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor (or Instructor) position and Adjunct teaching staff starting in Fall, 2010. For the Visiting Assistant Professor position, a PhD in Computer Science, or PhD in Information Systems with a strong background in Computer Science is required. For Visiting Instructor or Adjunct positions, a Master's degree in Computer Science; or Master's in Information Systems with a strong background in CS is required.
Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching are required. For Fall 2010, we anticipate a need for instructors for the following courses: Introduction to Computer Applications, Assembly Language & Computer Architecture, Introduction to CS, and Management Information Systems.
The department currently has 9 tenure-track faculty, 3 visiting faculty, and more than 65 CS majors. We offer a successful internship program for our majors and we primarily offer courses to Computer Science, Mathematics, and Business majors. The department offers a major and minor in Computer Science, an Information Systems minor, and certificates in Computer Science and in Information Systems. Our facilities include several Unix-based servers and five computer labs (Mac and PC) with a variety of software and development tools.
Siena College is a liberal arts college with a Franciscan and Catholic tradition, with about 3000 full-time undergraduate students. Siena is located just north of Albany in upstate New York. There are many cultural, professional, and recreational opportunities in the area.
