Login Accounts
The Computer Science Department maintains its own network domain, called SOSAD. Only students with a SOSAD account can login to CS department computers. Typically, a student's account will be generated at the beginning of the semester when they enroll in one of the introductory CS courses.
Did you register late?
If you registered late, you must contact the System Administrator (Ken Swarner) so that your account can be created. You will need to know your Siena email address and your Siena Identification number (SID).
Usernames
Your username will be the same as your Siena Service account, which is your main login account.
Your username is generated by combining:
- Your first initial
- Your middle initial (if none then skip)
- The day of the month in which you were born (2 digits)
- The first 4 letters of your last name
Examples
- Jack Daniels, born on July 4th, would have j04dani as a username.
- Sean P. Combs, born on June 29th, would havesp29comb as a username.
- Xiao Foo, born on August 3, would have x03foo as a username.
Passwords
Your initial password is generated by combining:- The capital letter "P"
- Your first initial
- Your last initial
- Your full Siena Identification Number (SID)
Example
- Jack Daniels (SID 901456789) would have Pjd901456789 as a password.
Still having problems logging in?
Your last resort is to visit the System Administrator - Ken Swarner. But, before you ask him to create or reset your account, try all of the options below:
- Make sure you are using the correct username and password. Read the username and password descriptions above.
- Even if you think you have changed your password, try using the initial password described above.
- If you've recently changed your password, try the old one and try the new one.
- Remember usernames and passwords are case sensitive. Make sure Caps Lock is not turned on.
- If you are using the key pad to type numbers, make sure Num Lock is turned on.
- Take a deap breath, relax, and trying typing your username and password very slowly and carefully.
