Overview
The certificate in Computer Science is intented for those who do not wish to complete a Bachelors degree. The program requires only courses in computer science and mathematics with a focus on programming and problem solving. There are no liberal arts or natural science requirements for a certificate. This program is well-suited for those who already have a Bachelors degree.
Requirements
At least four of the courses and at least three of the Computer Science courses must be completed at Siena College. The Computer Science courses may not be taken with the pass/fail option.
Six required Computer Science courses:
- CSIS-110 Introduction to Computer Science
- CSIS-120 Procedural Design and Programming
- CSIS-210 Data Structures
- CSIS-220 Computer Architecture and Assembly Language
- CSIS-225 Object-Oriented Design and Programming
- CSIS-385 Advanced Algorithms
Three required Math courses:
- MATH-110 Calculus I
- MATH-120 Calculus II
- MATH-250 Discrete Structures
Note: Discrete Structures is not required for Mathematics majors who wish to earn this certificate
