About Me

I joined the Siena College faculty as Assistant Professor of Computer Science in September 1993. Prior to that I was on the faculty in the Computer and Information Science Department at the University of Massachusetts. The Computer Science Department at the University of Washington graciously hosted me for a year on a recent sabbatical.

The Computer Science Department at the University of Wisconsin was my home for seven years while completing my MS and PhD degrees, with a brief respite at IBM's Almaden Research Center. My undergraduate degree, with majors in Mathematics and in Computer Science, is from Cornell University. If my high school had a web page, or if I thought anyone was still reading this, I'd put in a link to that as well.

I am a member of the following organizations:

Association for Computing Machinery, including the SIGMOD (management of data) and SIGCSE (computer science education) special interest groups.
Council on Undergraduate Research, member and councilor.
Phi Beta Kappa
Pi Mu Epsilon

My other interests include ice hockey, downhill skiing, and medieval history.
